Chair of Trustees

Become Chair of Trustees – Cumbria Yoga Foundation

We’re looking for a thoughtful, collaborative leader to join us as Chair of Trustees at an exciting stage in Cumbria Yoga Foundation’s journey.

As the charity grows and deepens its impact across Cumbria, we’re seeking someone to help guide our governance, support our Board, and champion our vision of accessible, community-based yoga for everyone — regardless of age, background, income, health or circumstance.

This is a hands-on role that goes beyond chairing meetings. You’ll be actively involved in shaping our strategy, supporting the development of our Board, and helping build a sustainable and well-governed organisation that can continue to make a real difference to people’s lives across the county.

About the Role

As Chair, you’ll provide leadership to the Board of Trustees and work closely with our Treasurer, trustees and leadership team to ensure Cumbria Yoga Foundation remains focused on its mission, accountable in its governance and ambitious in its future.

Key areas of involvement include:

  • Strategic leadership and organisational development
  • Chairing Board meetings and supporting good governance
  • Fundraising, income development and financial oversight
  • Partnership building and external representation
  • Supporting and developing a diverse and effective Board

You don’t need to have chaired a charity board before. We welcome applications from people with transferable leadership experience from professional, voluntary or community backgrounds.

We’re particularly interested in people with experience in leadership, charity governance, health or community development, finance, fundraising or public sector partnerships — though enthusiasm for our mission and values matters just as much.

How to Apply

To apply, please send the following to jobs@cumbriayogafoundation.org

  • Your CV or a short summary of your relevant experience
  • A covering letter or expression of interest that includes a few paragraphs explaining why you feel you’d be a suitable Chair for Cumbria Yoga Foundation
  • Closing date: 31st July
  • Interviews: Early September

Trustees

Become a Trustee – Cumbria Yoga Foundation

We’re looking for passionate, community-minded people to join our Board of Trustees and help shape the future of Cumbria Yoga Foundation.

Whether you’re an experienced trustee or completely new to governance, we’d love to hear from you. What matters most is that you share our commitment to accessible, inclusive community wellbeing — and that you’re ready to contribute your skills, perspective and enthusiasm to a growing charity doing meaningful work across Cumbria.

About the Role

As a trustee, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring Cumbria Yoga Foundation is well governed, financially sustainable and focused on its mission. Trustees share collective responsibility for the charity’s strategic direction and work together as a Board to support and challenge the organisation as it grows.

You might contribute experience in areas such as:

  • Finance, accounting or legal knowledge
  • Fundraising or income development
  • HR, EDI or organisational development
  • Health, wellbeing or mental health
  • Community development or public sector partnerships

But we’re equally interested in people who bring lived experience, community connections or simply a fresh way of thinking. We’ll provide full induction, support and training.

Time Commitment

Trustees typically commit several hours per month — attending around four Board meetings per year, preparing for meetings, and occasionally contributing to working groups or projects. Meetings are held online and at locations across Cumbria.

How to Apply

Please send the following to jobs@cumbriayogafoundation.org

  • Your CV or a short summary of your relevant experience
  • A covering letter or expression of interest explaining why you’d like to join the Board

We welcome informal conversations before you apply.

  • Closing date: 31st July 2026
  • Interviews: Early September
